Jennifer Hammer majored in Commercial Art with an interest in fashion illustration at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas after taking private art lessons from 1968 t0 1973. After a long hiatus, she decided to get back into art in 2010, and signed up for a class offered by Jan Thompson, one of Colorado's premier pastel artists. Jennifer found a new love in pastels as an art medium.
Jennifer is a charter member of Creede, Colorado's Hearty Artist Guild (or HAGS), and has recently joined CTAA. Her pastel art has been featured in the Creede Olive Oil Store & Gallery, and she participated in the 2011 and 2012 Taste of Crede Art Festival & Auction, hosted by Stephen Quiller. Also a photographer, three of her photos were accepted into Creede's 2011 Mountain Shoot-out, and two photos were accepted into the 2012 Mountain Shoot-out, sponsored by the Creede Arts Council.
