A native Texan, Jan was influenced as a young girl by both of her artistic parents. Her father was an interior designer and a painter. Her mother, also a painter, was a great mentor who Jan lost at an early age. Jan began sculpting works in paper maché and clay in
her early teens, and quickly became interested in painting and working
in other media as well. Jan studied art at Sam Houston State
University, gaining experience in drawing, design, painting and
sculpture.
Jan feels her passion for creating art comes not only from her parents, but also through guidance from her divine father. Through her work, which she feels is a heartfelt blessing, Jan desires to touch and enlighten the souls of those viewing her art.
Jan has received several awards at juried art shows for her work in mixed media and for her sculptured crosses. She has also recently begun working to create unique 3-dimensional works in bronze.
Jan is a member of The Kemp Center for the Arts, and her work may be seen at the FineArtAmerica gallery, as well as in the gift shop at The Kemp Center in Wichita Falls, Texas, and The Art Gallery in Saint Jo, Texas.
