Debra Fox jointed the CTAA in 2013, bringing her hauntingly beautiful and unique art to our group in a presentation. She studied large format, gelatin silver, and other alternative methods of photography under the mentorship of Charles DeBus, Senior Lecturer in Photography at SMU. Debra found that the more alternative light-sensitive methods of creating an image was what inspired her. She manipulates leaves, flowers and insects for the negatives, with the final print taking anywhere from four days to nine months of exposure to the sun, rain, and other elements of nature. The unpredictable qualities of both the subject and the process are what makes each piece unique.
