Pat Peery remembers drawing crayola horses as a very young child, encouraged by her artistic mother. Largely self-taught, Pat took some art classes in college, at one time dreaming of becoming an architect. However, family and earning a living intervened for many years until the late 1990s, when a close friend motivated her to enroll in an art workshop by Fort Worth artist, James Spurlock. That encounter sparked a passionate interest in learning more. Since then, Pat has taken a number of different workshops and art classes at NCTC. She enjoys painting in oils and in drawing in pencil and charcoal. She particularly enjoys creating portraits of animals and children.
