2022 meeting schedule
The CTAA meets on the second Thursday of each month, usually in the Chisholm Trail Room at Wellington State Bank in Bowie (1301 Hwy 59 N), Texas. Doors open at 5:30pm for "Meet and Greet", followed by a short meeting at 6:00pm. Our guest presentation begins promptly at 6:30pm and generally lasts an hour or two. The presentation or demonstration is followed by our "Artist of the Month" selection from artwork brought in by our members. On occasion, meetings and/or demonstrations are changed to a field trip to a gallery or art studio, the location of which will be indicated on this website page. - January 13: "Show and Tell" - members bring something they've been working on to share with the group, or talk about some new tip they've discovered to create, present, and sell art! Learning from each other!
- February 10: Gale Cochran-Smith shows some of her watercolor art
- March 10: Dave Shafer presents his award-winning photography
- April 14: Larry G. Lemons does a hands-on demonstration about beginning level drawing using grid system
- May 12: Joshua Bradley shows his jewelry creations, beautiful turned wood bowls, and oil paintings
- June 9: Martha Spurlock demonstrates watercolor on canvas
- July 14: Susan Moody showcases her fiber art
- August 11: FIELD TRIP!!! The group travels to the OPOMAC in Graham to see the Lake Country Art Show. Plan on meeting at the OPOMAC at 1:30pm. Call Gale to RSVP if you need a ride or can provide a ride for someone else: (940-872-2517)
- September 8: Anne Ayres presents her bronze sculpture art and her children's books.
- October 13: NO MEETING. Instead we attend the Preview Party of the "Art of the Song" art show during the Nocona Nights Music Festival in Nocona at the Justin Building from 5pm to 7pm on Friday the 14th. Art Show closes Saturday at 5:30pm.
- November 10: Ron Ice presents a program on finding creativity in all things
- December 8: Christmas Party & White Elephant Gift Exchange at the Fellowship Hall of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bowie (701 Hwy 81, next to the car wash). Potluck Dinner served starting at 6pm, followed by the gift exchange (max $25 for a wrapped gift to be exchanged).
