A local rancher and former businessman, Don MacLaughlin began his painting career after he retired.  Inspired by the details of ordinary life, Don likes to paint images that reveal emotion and expression.  Don particularly likes working in oils, as well as graphite figure drawing and sketching.  Working from both live models and photographs, Don captures the inner thoughts and feelings of his subjects, and in finding the beauty in everyday things.  Don is involved in a number of community activities, and is also a member of the WFAA and GAVA.  He owns The Gallery in Nocona, where he also teaches painting and drawing classes and workshops.  His work can be seen all over North Texas as well as on his website:  www.maclaughlinranch.com.
