Growing up in the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest, Gale Cochran-Smith developed an affinity with the beauty of nature. Largely self-taught, Gale's art seeks to explore the relationship that people have with their environment. She is most comfortable working in either watercolor or pastels, but also works in a variety of other media, including photography. Two years of formal training in commercial art, combined with a thirty-year career in the financial services industry, enhance Gale's ability to expand into the world illustration, commercial advertising, graphic design, website design, and business marketing. She joined the CTAA in 2007, and has served as an officer since 2009. In 2009, she formed her own graphic design business - Shadow Ridge Graphics, which has developed the websites of several area businesses, museums, artists, and galleries. Gale's work can be seen at a number of shows and events throughout Texas, as well as on her website: www.shadowridgegraphics.com. Gale has also co-authored and written several books, which can be purchased on Amazon as well as locally at the Tales 'N' Trails Museum Gift Shop in Nocona. She also serves on the Montague County Historical Commission, as well as on the Board of Directors at Tales 'N' Trails Museum in Nocona.
